Reshape is a group name consists of three people doing the Honours program at Swinburne University. We are Dinda Pradi, Frits Bovill and Mario Djuhadi. We are doing Design Research Project and the area of investigation will be based on “Social Pattern”. Given the term ‘Language’ as our initial research, we have expanded that into more a specific research area which is about language interpretation.
The research topic is focused on the re-appropriation of content from one medium to another. The motivation for researching this topic is based on the way that such a shift can influence one’s perception or understanding of information.
Much of the basis for our research is based on Marshall McLuhan’s explanation that people only see the obvious part(s) of the function in the medium (“We shape our tools, thereafter our tools shape us”). In result, the function of the medium becomes limited (no innovation, our brain stops expanding) Therefore, we aim to show people how a particular medium can perform multiple tasks.
